Secure Connection to your Outlook  Outlook 2007

mailhost123.com supports the Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTPS) protocol. This creates a secure connection between your Desktop Outlook client, Webmail or SmartPhone and our Exchange Servers. These security measures reduce security concerns and address corporate security requirements.

SSL  thawte SSL

All connections to the Exchange server, Outlook Web Access, Outlook Anywhere and Billing servers are secured with thawte SSL123 High-Grade Encryption (RC4 128 bit) certificates.

thawte is a leading global Certification Authority. Their SSL and code signing digital certificates are used globally to secure servers, provide data encryption, authenticate users, protect privacy and assure online identifies through stringent authentication and verification processes.

Email Encryption  Secure Messaging

Opportunistic TLS Encryption.
If the destination SMTP server supports TLS (via the “STARTTLS” SMTP command) when sending outbound e-mail from Exchange Server 2007, Exchange Server will automatically encrypt the outbound content using TLS. In addition, inbound e-mail sent to Exchange Server 2007 from the internet will be encrypted if the sending server supports TLS (Exchange Server 2007 automatically installs SSL certificates).

S/MIME Support
Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (S/MIME) enables users to send signed and encrypted e-mail to one another from a variety of devices, including Outlook, Outlook Web Access, and Windows Mobile 6.0 using Exchange ActiveSync.

Outlook Anywhere

Outlook Anywhere and Exchange 2007

The Outlook Anywhere feature for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 lets your Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003 clients connect to mailhost123.com's Exchange servers over the Internet by using the RPC over HTTP Windows networking component. This topic describes the Outlook Anywhere feature and the benefits of using Outlook Anywhere.

There are several benefits to using Outlook Anywhere to enable Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 clients to access mailhost123.com's Hosted Exchange infrastructure. The benefits are as follows:

  • Remote access to Exchange servers from the Internet.
  • You can use the same URL that you use for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and Outlook Web Access.
  • Unauthenticated requests from Outlook cannot access Exchange servers.
  • Clients must trust the certification authority that issues the certificate.
  • You do not have to use a virtual private network (VPN) to access Exchange servers across the Internet.
